The Disaster Artist, based on the book of the same name by The Room's co-star Greg Sestero and writer Tom Bissell, is about the making of The Room. ![]() I would've hated watching the movie on my own. It was a raucous and ridiculous, less about the terrible movie onscreen and more about the crowd goofing off. There are too many good movies, you know? Then last month, I went to a midnight screening of The Room, the legendarily bad film by the enigmatic and bizarre man named Tommy Wiseau, and probably the biggest bad movie phenomenon ever. I'm talking about the sort that are so deeply and thoroughly terrible that they become an attraction in and of themselves, fodder for Bad Movie Nights, midnight screenings, and Mystery Science Theater 3000 episodes. I never understood the appeal of truly bad movies. ![]()
